The Kingdom of Buganda is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Ltd., aimed at strengthening collaboration in environmental conservation and community development.
This strategic partnership focuses on two key initiatives:
Advancing tree growing under Ekibira Kya Kabaka
Constructing a modern community sports center in Buddu County, Masaka District
As part of this collaboration, the Kingdom has committed 120 acres of land to support tree growing under the Ekibira Kya Kabaka initiative, and an additional 10 acres for the development of a state-of-the-art sports center. EACOP will provide financial support for the facility, which will serve as a hub for nurturing talent, promoting fitness, and empowering youth through community engagement.
The signing ceremony was held at Bulange Mengo, where our Katikkiro, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, emphasized the importance of partnerships that address pressing challenges such as climate change, environmental conservation, and youth empowerment. He stated:
“The Kingdom cherishes partnerships that address urgent challenges such as climate change, environmental conservation, and youth empowerment. Through Ekibira Kya Kabaka and the new community sports center, we are creating a legacy of resilience, opportunity, and growth for our people.”

EACOP’s Managing Director, Mr. Guillaume DULOUT, reaffirmed their commitment to sustainability and socio-economic development, noting:
We were honored by the presence of Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa, Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, who commended both parties for forging a partnership that strengthens environmental conservation and community development.
This collaboration aligns with EACOP’s Social Economic Investment pillars, which prioritize environmental protection and youth empowerment. It also acknowledges the central role of Buganda Kingdom in the pipeline’s journey, with 7 of the 10 pipeline districts located within our territory, covering over 130 villages across four counties.
The Kingdom of Buganda remains steadfast in its commitment to initiatives that uplift our people, protect our environment, and build a resilient future for generations to come.
